Neighborhood grumpy grandpa cat causes a chaotic midnight chase through a house's basement after breaking in and confusing the resident cats: 'As far as I know, he's still in my basement.'

When the local grandpa with the "get off my lawn!" attitude is a of the feline kind, things can get funny fast.

Imagine your local grumpy gramps, the one sitting on his porch at the end of the street, living in the house where all the kids are afraid to ride their bikes by. And if someone just dares to breathe in the general direction of his crumbly garden, you get the threatening cane waving and "get off my lawn!" yells directed right at you. And these are scary. These grandpa types are the ones who truly control the neighborhoods they live in. Now, imagine this old man is a cat.

When the old man controlling your neighborhood is a cat, you've got a claw waving instead of a cane waving, and a lot of hissing instead of the lawn yelling situation. Kids might still be afraid to ride their bikes next to him, that thing doesn't change. But when this is the reality of the stray population in your neighborhood, you already know how to deal with a grumpy cat like that. Even if he breaks into your basement and causes mayhem in the household… which is exactly what happened in this one neighborhood, to this one person.

  • This is absolutely chaotic. Imagine what you have to do to move not one, not two, but five cats back to the house, while they're entranced by a “I must have a look! This old man won't leave my sight for one second!” intrusive thought. And if you're a cat pawrent, you know it's almost impossible to get a cat out of it. We just imagine the Benny Hill music playing in the background as this person tries to move their cats from place to place, only for the cats to run around and do whatever they want. All while this old cat watches from above, not bothered.

    GingerAphrodite OP That is not only not possible, but I'm pretty sure he would shot me in the kneecaps if he had opposable thumbs and I tried to keep him. When I see him outdoors I jump between calling him Gramps or "The Don" lol

    GingerAphrodite OP Oh absolutely. The day that I first fed him I was genuinely concerned that he might be mostly deaf and mostly blind, but after interacting with him more I think he just can't be bothered and doesn't care

    GingerAphrodite OP Kind of grumpy but that's mostly just his face. He doesn't hiss or growl but he's kind of skittish and doesn't like being touched. I think he was recently hit by a car but he's been healing up really well, but he acts like he's used 10 of his nine lives

    FormidableMistress That's his basement now. The CDS gave me 4 piebald cats. I saw another piebald cat walking down my street the other day and told my friend "I haven't seen this cat before and I hope he's not a stray, but I can tell by his coat he wants to come inside my house."
